November & December 2008

Isla Canaria & Atlantic Crossing |
We beat our way against the current and the winds to pass the Pillars of Hercules, exit the Mediterranean Sea and enter the Atlantic Ocean. The Canary Islands were to home while we prepared for our Atlantic Crossing. A bit of hiking, kiteboarding and surfing were to be found in between the projects and provisioning.

September & October 2008 |
Spain & Gibraltar |
The best part of Spain was we had company coming. Lisa's parents were joining on as crew for a month. They wanted the whole experience so we helped them earn their stripes with a 600 mile sail from Barcelona to Gibraltar, with all sorts of stops along the way. The beauty, glory and passion that embodies Spain was the icing on the cake.

Italy |
The land of romance, history and great food. Though somewhat challenging from a sailing standpoint the adventure made up for it all. We traveled from the toe to the knee cap says our boys. Visiting another volcano and great sites including Pompeii and Rome.

June & July 2008 |
Greece |
Our introduction to Greece actually started about a month earlier when our pals on s/v Luna gave us a personal tour of Karpathos in the Cyclade Island chain. The first day there we met Socrates, stuffed ourselves on tzatziki and greek salads. Little blue copula topped churches did not disappoint. We went back later on our own to round out the trip with visits to many islands, a tour of Athens, and a trip through the Corinth Canal.

Turkey |
Just in time to watch the end of the European Soccer Championships games with Turkey, we had the chance to experience many new things with the Turks. Doner kebabs, Turkish rugs, Ephesus and many other ruins.
